Dental FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the dentist take digital X-rays?

Many dentists cannot see all the disease in the teeth by eye, an X-ray can bring the dentist closer to the surrounding tissues and reveal:

  • Infections in the bone
  • Some types of tumors
  • Abscesses or cysts
  • Gum disease
  • Small areas of decay in the teeth
I have dentures, is it still necessary to see a dentist regularly?

Even though you no longer need to worry about dental decay, a main concern can be the proper fittings of dentures or general mouth pains. Continual visits to the dentist can prevent oral cancer or simply adjust or switch out existing appliances. Regular visits can help prevent any complications down the road.
